Rosenshine’s 10 Principles of Instruction and Clicker

‘Rosenshine’s 10 Principles of Instruction’ are research-based strategies that are used by teachers to develop pupils’ ability to recall, acquire, rehearse and connect knowledge.

Rosenshine’s principles of instruction were identified from three areas of research:

  • Research in cognitive science.
  • Research on the classroom practices of master teachers.
  • Research on cognitive support to help students learn complex tasks.

Many teachers today will be familiar with these principles of instruction and their associated terminology, as they correspond with practises that can be found in many classrooms!
