Error: "Trying to find network..."

You receive this error message on launch.

Resolution

This error message indicates a problem connecting to the Shared Files folder on your network.

You can click Disconnect and continue, however:

  • By default, your files will be saved to the computer instead of the network.
  • The Word Pool won't be editable (but will still work).
  • Your Classes Users will be missing from the Quick Start (Clicker only).

To resolve the problem, please contact your IT Support.

IT Professionals

Shared Files is the default open / save location.

In standalone installations, this is a folder located within:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\

In a network installation, all computers point to a single network share. The location is chosen during the network setup on the server (prior to generation of the install package).

This location is stored in the SharedFiles value of the following Registry key on each computer:

Clicker 7
32-bit Windows - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crick\Clicker7
64-bit Windows - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Crick\Clicker7

Clicker 8
32-bit Windows - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crick\Clicker8
64-bit Windows - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Crick\Clicker8

DocsPlus

The SharedFiles value can be modified freely. For best results, we recommend supplying a UNC path to a non-hidden network share that Domain Users have read / write access to.
