Our story

We started in Northampton, UK in 1993, when John Crick applied his special needs teaching experience to design and build the first version of Clicker, for primary-aged children of all abilities, with DocsPlus added later as a Secondary version.

Ann Crick used her literacy and special needs teaching skills to take charge of the curriculum direction and content - our LearningGrids site now contains thousands of Clicker and DocsPlus resources across a wide range of curriculum topics.

We’ve also developed two simple but powerful tools for particular needs – SuperKeys, an accessible keyboard for anyone struggling to access the iPhone or iPad, and Clicker Communicator, an AAC app for children with communication difficulties.

We’ve won numerous awards, and Clicker is available in French, Italian and Arabic in addition to British, American, and Australian English.

In 2022, John and Ann Crick were honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the annual BETT Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of the educational technology industry.
