Error: "Trying to find network..." (DocsPlus)
You receive the following error message on launch:
Trying to find network...
This error message indicates that DocsPlus can't connect to the Shared DocsPlus Files folder on your network.
You can click Disconnect or wait 30 seconds for DocsPlus to stop trying. You can continue to use DocsPlus, however:
- By default, your files will be saved to the computer instead of the network.
- The Word Pool won't be editable (but will still work).
To resolve the problem, please contact your IT Support.
INFORMATION FOR NETWORK ADMINISTRATORS
The Shared DocsPlus Files folder is the default open / save location in DocsPlus.
In standalone installations, the location is: C:\Users\Public\Documents\DocsPlus
In a network installation, all computers point to a single network share. The location is chosen during the network setup on the server (prior to generating the MSI package).
The location is stored in the SharedFiles value in the following Registry key on each computer:
32bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crick\DocsPlus
64bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Crick\DocsPlus
This can be modified freely. For best results, we recommend supplying a UNC path to a non-hidden network share that users have read / write access to.
