Specifications

What are the minimum requirements for Clicker?

Clicker works on Windows and Mac computers.

  • Windows specifications: Windows 10 or newer. Click here for full details.
  • Mac specifications: Big Sur (11) or newer.

What are the minimum requirements for the Clicker Apps?

  • iPad specifications: iOS 15 or newer.
  • Chromebook specifications: Chrome OS 86 or newer, with Google Drive enabled.

What’s the difference between Clicker and the Clicker Apps?

Both Clicker (Windows/Mac) and the Clicker Apps (iPad/Chromebook) include the core child-friendly word processing features that Clicker is known for, including speech feedback, word prediction, Voice Notes, picture support, mind-mapping tools and the ability to provide topic-specific Sentence Sets, Connect Sets and Word Banks (whether these be the ready-made ones we provide or resources you create yourself). Certain Clicker features are only available in the Windows/Mac version: this currently includes Cloze activities, and matching activities.

Licensing

How does the licensing work?

Many schools are using a combination of devices to support their learners. Our Clicker universal licensing enables you to ‘mix and match’ Clicker licenses for your Windows/Mac machines with Clicker Apps licenses for your iPads and Chromebooks. For example, if you purchased a subscription for ’10 licenses’ of Clicker, this could be 10 licenses for Windows/Mac, or five for Windows/Mac and five for your iPads/Chromebooks etc…choose whichever combination works best for your school’s set-up.

Our Clicker Apps currently include Clicker Writer, Clicker Books and Clicker Talk. When you use the apps on one device it will only count as one of your allotted Clicker licenses. For example, if you have ‘5 licenses’ of Clicker, you would be able to use Clicker Writer, Clicker Books and Clicker Talk on five devices.

Is the licensing per user or per device?

The licensing for Clicker (Windows/Mac) and Clicker Apps (iPad) is per device. Clicker Apps for Chromebook licenses are per user.

For example, with a ‘10 License’ subscription for Clicker you could:

  • Install Clicker on five computers
  • Install the Clicker Apps on three iPads
  • Give two Chromebook users access to the Clicker Apps

When I purchase Clicker, how long does the license last?

All our Clicker licenses are a 3-year subscription.

How do I get my software?

You will receive an email from us with all the details on how to register and activate your subscription. We will send this email to your subscription manager (please note that you can have multiple subscription managers). If you are unable to find this email, please call us and we can resend this information to you.

When does the subscription for Clicker start?

After you register your license, you can activate your subscription at any time within the first month. After the first month has lapsed, your subscription will start automatically.

Can I move the licenses if we change the devices we are using?

Yes – you can manage your licenses, including transferring them to different devices, through your Clicker license management system. Full details of this process can be found here.

What is included in a Site License?

The Site License is the best value license as it enables you to install Clicker on all of your school computers and have the Clicker Apps on all your iPads and/or Chromebooks. The Site License also includes home access to Clicker/Clicker Apps for your students and teaching faculty.

How does a 1+1 license work?

The 1+1 license gives you up to two installations of Clicker, ensuring that both the pupil and the staff member supporting their learning have access to the program. This license could be two licenses for Clicker (Windows/Mac), two licenses for the Clicker Apps (iPad/Chromebook), or one of each – choose whichever combination fits bests with your school’s device provision.

Pricing

Can I buy Clicker using a Purchase Order (PO)?

Absolutely – we will then invoice the school when we email over the registration and installation information.

Are there any additional costs for technical supports or updates?

No – during your subscription period you will be provided with free technical support and any updates to Clicker and/or the Clicker Apps will also be provided free of charge.

Can I buy a one-year license?

We have chosen to make Clicker a three-year subscription rather than a one-year subscription because we know that schools need reassurance that any provision they invest in for their students will be available to them for the next few years, without having to worry about whether there will be enough to cover it in next year’s budget! The three-year subscription provides schools with the time they need to effectively set-up, install and implement Clicker, and ensures that they benefit from all the exciting new updates and additions we plan to release during this period.

Can I add more licenses during the subscription? How does that work?

Yes – if you wish to move to a Clicker Site License we can provide you with a prorated price that takes the time remaining on your current subscription into account. If you wish to buy a smaller number of additional licenses, such as a 5 or 10 license bundle, your 3-year subscription will start from the date you receive your license key email from us. Please contact us for a personalized quote.

Do you offer district wide licensing options for Clicker?

We have a range of options for district wide licensing – please call us at 203 221 2697 to discuss your needs with one of our Education Consultants.

Can we order a Clicker License and share it between school buildings?

This depends on what kind of license you purchase:

  • Our Clicker OneSchool Licenses are provided on a ‘per school’ basis. If you are designated as separate schools, then each school needs its own license.
  • However, our Clicker Student Support Licenses can be used to support targeted students across a school district, without building restrictions.

Renewals

When does the subscription for Clicker start?

When you resubscribe, we simply add the three years to your current subscription. This means you can re-subscribe at any time to take advantage of the early bird discount.

When does our subscription end?

Clicker is a three-year subscription so it will end three years after purchase. If you are unsure of when your subscription ends, just contact us at renewals@cricksoft.com and we will be able to let you know your subscription end date.

Will our subscription auto-renew?

No. Clicker/DocsPlus is an opt-in service and will NOT renew automatically.

How much will it cost to renew?

Around 6 months before your subscription ends, we will contact you via email to remind you of your upcoming renewal date and of the ‘early bird’ renewal discount we can offer. Standard renewal prices can be found online at https://www.cricksoft.com/us/clicker/pricing/renewals.

Can I increase the number of licenses we have access to?

Yes! We would love to talk about how Clicker would best suit your needs going forward. Email us at renewals@cricksoft.com or call us to discuss your renewal options.

I’m interested in renewing, but our subscription manager has changed/left since we purchased. How do I manage our Clicker licenses?

To change the subscription manager, please contact support with your organization name, organization zip code, full name and Google Account/Apple ID of the person(s) you wish to add/remove.

Home access to Clicker

We have a Clicker Site License – how do we give access to the software for home use?

You will need to request home user licenses through your Clicker license management system. This is a very straightforward process - see the support article here.

With the Clicker Site License can the home access be for iPad or Chromebooks even if we only have Windows computers in school?

Yes – your license enables parents and teaching staff to use Clicker on their home devices. If that device is a Windows/Mac computer, you can provide them with the installation instructions for Clicker. If they are using an iPad or Chromebook, they can use the Clicker Apps.

How do I share resources for students to access on their home devices?

There are a variety of ways to share Clicker resources and documents. Take a look at our training tutorials here to help you save, share, and print your resources.

I’m a parent and my child’s school does not have a Site License. Can you buy Clicker for home use?

Yes – parents can purchase a ‘1+1’ home user license for Clicker, which is the same as the school’s version of the software but offered at a 50% discount. The 1+1 license gives you up to two installations of Clicker on your home devices - this could be two licenses for Clicker, two licenses for the Clicker Apps, or one of each – choose whichever combination works best for you. Please contact us if you’d like to find out more about the Clicker home user license or to place an order.

Training and resources

We have some new staff on board – do you have any training they can use?

We have an extensive range of free training materials available on our website, including tutorials, public training webinars, on-demand personalized webinars and a comprehensive user guide. This can all be accessed here.

Do you provide in-school training?

Yes, we can provide in-school and online sessions. If you would like a personalized training session for your staff, further details can be found here. The Clicker OneSchool Site License includes two online training sessions during your subscription - a 90-minute personalized training and a 60-minute refresher session.

How do we access the LearningGrids resources?

From the Quick Start menu, select ‘LearningGrids’ to access our growing bank of ready-made Clicker resources. Use the search tools to find a suitable resource and select ‘Open’. Please note that you will need an internet connection to access LearningGrids.

How do we share Clicker files?

You can share Clicker files in the same way you would share other software files you use in school. For Windows/Mac machines this is likely to be through the server. For iPad/Chromebook this is often through email or file sharing platforms like Google Drive, Google Classroom, Dropbox, or OneDrive. See these training resources to find out more.
