Clicker Apps for iPad

With a Clicker subscription, you can distribute your licenses across Windows / Mac PCs, iPads, and Chromebook users. You have access to all three Clicker Apps – Clicker Writer, Clicker Books, and Clicker Talk – on iPads and Chromebooks. Use the checklists below to ensure that your software is working on your devices in preparation for your training.

1) Latest version

Install the latest version to ensure you have all the current features.

To install Clicker Writer on an iPad, see our step-by-step install guide. For guidance on deploying to multiple iPads using your MDM, see:

 

If Clicker Writer is already installed, iPads typically update apps automatically. To manually check for updates, launch the App Store and tap the top-right Account icon.

We also recommend updating your iPad to the latest iPadOS:

2) Launch

Launch Clicker Writer and check that it loads successfully.

3) License + Speech

To check that the app is licensed successfully, write some words, and then tap the  speak  Speak Text icon.

If an error message says you're in Limited Access Mode, see:

 

If words are being highlighted in sequence, but you can't hear the speech, see:

4) Sound Recording

To test sound recording:

  1. Tap the speech-recorder Sound Recorder icon.
  2. Tap the red circle.
  3. If prompted to allow the app to access the microphone, tap OK.
  4. Talk a bit and tap STOP.
  5. The Play arrow should turn green. Tap it and you should hear yourself talking.

5) LearningGrids

To test opening a free resource, tap the top-left  Clicker Writer Explorer   Explorer icon and choose LearningGrids. The website should load in a new window, listing the latest resources.

Tap a resource’s Open button. It should load within the app and be usable.

6) Saving and sharing

Make sure you can save and share your Clicker files between devices.

  1. If the top toolbar is hidden, tap  books-top-w44h14  to show it.
  2. Tap the top-right  books-settings-w30h30   Settings icon.
  3. On the Speech tab, tap Try Voice.

  2. On the left, tap the Add picture  below where it says Pictures, browse to a picture and tap on it to add it to the activity.
  3. Choose Listen & Say for the activity type below where it says Activity.
  4. Tap on the  Play button  button to enter run mode and click the forward arrow in the bottom right to move to the first page.
  5. Tap on the microphone button below the picture and in the Sound Recorder, tap the red circle.
  6. If prompted to allow the app to access the microphone, tap OK.
  7. Talk a bit and tap STOP.
  8. The Play arrow should turn green. Tap it and you should hear yourself talking.
