Error: "Cannot save the file…" in DocsPlus

When saving a file, you receive the following error message:
Cannot save the file…You may not have sufficient privileges to save this file in the folder you have selected.

If you’re saving to a network location, your Windows/Mac account doesn’t have permission to save files there. Contact your IT Support to request access.

If you’re saving to the Shared Files folder and you have a standalone installation of DocsPlus, this error is caused by a security feature introduced in the Windows 10 April Update (1803). The intention is to prevent malware from overwriting your personal files.

To solve the problem:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, start typing controlled folder access and click the result when it appears (black shield icon).
  2. Click Allow an app through controlled folder access and then Add an allowed app.
  3. On the left, click This PC and then browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Crick Software\DocsPlus. Double-click the DocsPlus file and answer yes to any security messages.

DocsPlus.exe should now be listed as an exception.

Information for Network Administrators

The Controlled folder access feature can be configured via Group Policy:
