Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence

WriteOnline has been named a winner in the annual Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence program. Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director, stated that the judges “put dozens of entries through their paces. To come out with their seal of approval is a testament to the product”. Products that receive this award are evaluated on quality and effectiveness, ease of use, creative use of technology and suitability for use in an educational environment.

 

ERA Award - Category Secondary Resources and Equipment - using ICT

This was judged an extremely valuable resource for a wide age and ability range. It supports core subject needs with valuable online tools. With their clear presentation, these writing tools would encourage and stimulate writing and ideas generation.

Crick Software was declared the winner of the prestigious Secondary Award at the Education Resources Awards ceremony on  March 27, 2009. The ERA awards highlight the very best educational products that create a practical impact. This is a fantastic award for the company and a valuable recognition for our development team!

Duke's Choice Award from Sun Microsystems

In May 2008, WriteOnline was announced the winner of the Duke's Choice Award at the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco, California.

The Duke's Choice Awards program recognizes the year's most influential Java technology-based applications submitted by developers and companies around the world. The winners are chosen by Vice President, James Gosling, along with a panel of Java technology experts at Sun Microsystems.

Here is what David Bryant, senior director of Java marketing at Sun, had to say:

"This is the sixth year we have run these awards and every year we receive even more entries, from independent developers to multi-national giants. Our primary judging criteria is innovation.

English-Speaking Union President’s Award

WriteOnline has been announced as the ESU President's Award winner 2008. HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh presented the award in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in November.

The ESU President’s Award is given annually for innovation in the use of new technologies to enhance English teaching and learning worldwide. The judging panel is chaired by Professor Margaret Buck OBE, former Head of Central St. Martins College of Art and Design and includes experts from the fields of language, design and technology.

The panel judged that "the resource is interactive, empowering, and educationally useful." Continuing to describe WriteOnline as "empowering the learner to develop and progress their skills in English." It was further stated that WriteOnline creates a learning environment for the beginner writer and enables teachers to adapt authentic materials to be of use to learners of varying levels.
