WriteOnline Success Story
Chartered Educational Psychologist
WriteOnline is a fantastic tool for supporting children with dyslexia. Last year, I introduced a 12 year old pupil named Sarah* to the program. Before WriteOnline, she was struggling to produce any significant quantity of written work in which she could take a pride - you could see her potential but the difficulties of writing and spelling were really getting in the way of her being able to communicate her ideas effectively.
WriteOnline has made an amazing difference to Sarah's life. The excellent piece of creative writing she has just produced in her English examination represents an incredible turnaround for her; a testament to the power of WriteOnline to really enable children to get round many of the handicapping effects of their dyslexia.
Sarah's parents are as thrilled as I am with her progress:
"Since Sarah has been using WriteOnline, we have noticed a huge difference in her. She is much more relaxed and happier about work at school. It has enabled her to be more independent and it was that lack of independence that seemed to have been frustrating her so much."
WriteOnline is so easy for students and teachers to use, and so enabling for dyslexic pupils, that it ought to be automatically provided for every child with dyslexia.
By giving her the tools she needs to be an independent learner, she has not only shown everyone else just what she is capable of, but also herself. She is beginning to believe she is as capable as I have always known her to be.
Too many teachers believe that using technology such as this to support dyslexic users is "cheating", but Sarah's success with WriteOnline is evident. WriteOnline is so easy for students and teachers to use, and so enabling for dyslexic pupils, that it ought to be automatically provided for every child with dyslexia. I cannot recommend it enough.
