"We have been using Clicker Phonics in all our classes and have seen great results already. The series covers systematic phonics teaching really well, but what we are really impressed by is the depth and breadth of the resource as it takes the children from early sound discrimination all the way through to synthetic phonics.

We love the fact that Clicker Phonics is so interactive. The children have been working with the microphones to record their own sounds. We have saved their work and were able to share lots of the experiences with the parents at parents’ evening. And those parents were really impressed, not only by their recordings and progression, but also by the comfort and ease with which the children view the technology.

We have had the children working on the Sounds Around CD and working at their own pace through the activities. The great ‘Tell Me’ button enables them to work independently. This is particularly important as we have a number of children in our classes, and the school in general, who have special needs or specific learning difficulties.

The great thing about this series is that the children are learning pre-phonics and gaining the skills of listening and sequencing. We have been using the sequencing of the instruments with year 1 and they have found it really beneficial. Now, when they are recording their own sounds, they are really focussing on what each sound is and how it sounds. We have seen a number of phonics programs which focus on writing, but none that are really emphasising the key skills that the children need in order to form those grapheme-phoneme links and the abilities to blend and segment.

All the classes in the school use Clicker Phonics. Our nursery is doing really well, introducing the environmental and musical sounds, and they will progress through the CDs in reception and year 1. We are also using CDs 5 and 6 in year 2 to support the learning in those classes. The lower ability children are using Clicker Phonics to support their knowledge and the more able are using it for consolidation. We have been using Clicker Phonics as the stimulus for whole-class activities. We have then taken the children through to the ICT suite and they have all then been working at the most appropriate level. This has meant that we have had 7 or 8 different levels and tasks for the children in my class. Individual children are then fully in control and can work through at their own pace, giving them the independence to move on when they feel confident to do so.

As we are using Clicker in school extensively, the children do not have to re-learn how to use the software - they are familiar with the way that Clicker works and so hardly needed me to explain the software to them at all! They are also able to save their work as a record of achievement and for me, a record of their progression too.

We have a number of children with English as an additional language and also some new arrivals. The great thing about Clicker Phonics is that it is so graphical that the children can get involved in using it straight away without the need for language.

We have a number of children in year 1 with specific learning difficulties and we can really see that Clicker Phonics will be able to help us support them in their learning alongside their peers.

And on top of all of these activities, there are also CDs focussing on the teaching of synthetic such as introducing the phonemes, the grapheme-phoneme link and then there is also the Read and Write CD which is great to get the children putting their new skills into practice in a practical and fun way.

We can see lots of additional ways to make use of Clicker Phonics and look forward to our children across the whole school using Clicker Phonics at a level appropriate to their needs."
