About Trackers For Clicker

Trackers For Clicker is a joint Crick Software and Oxford University Press publication for children aged 7+ who have a reading age of 5+. The series is based on the fiction books from Oxford's new Trackers structured reading series. It is particularly suitable for struggling or reluctant readers, and for English Language Learners.

The highly motivating stories are written at an age-appropriate level and use a variety of strategies to develop children's reading skills. Alongside each story there is a range of Clicker activities at word, sentence and text level, all based on specific literacy objectives.

Trackers teaches more of the key reading skills than any other SEN course, including high frequency words, phonics, syntax and semantics, whilst complementing and extending the Additional Literacy Support (DfES) and Further Literacy Support (DfES) initiatives.

The are seven levels to the series: Level 0: Bear Tracks (Starter Level) | Level 1: Elephant Tracks | Level 2: Frog Tracks | Level 3: Giraffe Tracks | Level 4: Parrot Tracks | Level 5: Tiger Tracks | Level 6: Zebra Tracks

There is a Trackers For Clicker CD-ROM for each level, with each CD-ROM containing four on-screen fiction books. With each book there is a range of differentiated Clicker activities. At word level, these include word recognition activities using high frequency words from the stories, plus phonic word building. At sentence level, there are activities to develop confidence in using the 'tricky words' from the story.

Text-level activities include extended writing supported by Clicker Grids to help pupils express opinions, reach conclusions and relate the story to their own experience. There are also character studies covering the key characters in the stories, plus a range of comprehension activities covering both retrieval of detail and inferential questions. Pupils an even make their own versions of the Trackers stories, supported by the new Clicker 5 pop-up grids.
