An ode to Clicker:
As a S.E.N. teacher in this school,
Clicker is my ESSENTIAL tool.
For every subject and every child,
a Clicker programme is compiled.
With Cloze Pro, Clicker Four or Five,
And Animations all alive,
Daily learning does place,
and understanding at a pace,
that helps the children to achieve
and worried parents to relieve.
To list its uses I cannot do,
Time is short and lines are few.
I am a special needs teacher and spend time working one-to-one with children with specific learning difficulties. I work with children aged between 6 and 10 and use different aspects of Clicker, dependent on the needs of the individual child. I am always downloading resources from the LearningGrids site and can always find a use for them with one of the children I work with. I either use them ‘as is’, or mostly I adapt them to the specific needs of the child.

work books, dictionaries, posters..."For example, I have been using Clicker with a particular pupil with language difficulties. When he first came to our school, he would scream at the sight of a book. He is now a wonderful reader and is doing well with his spelling. This was achieved because the visual written and the sound go together. Using Clicker, we made work books, dictionaries, posters, reading books, used the freely downloadable grids, and made our own grids. He was able to see and hear the words, as well as record his own voice. I do not believe that without Clicker this would have been achieved. It is such a useful tool – Clicker’s uses are as big as a teacher’s imagination!
