I have used Clicker in many different ways to support reading and writing activities with children in my school. Some of these include:

  • helping less able children build word banks
  • building personal glossaries of Topic Vocabulary
  • improving the use of better connectives in Literacy lessons
  • using Clicker with Acceleread program for SEN support and as a wonderful basic word-processing package for lower ability groups

I have just started using Clicker to support the Acceleread programme with a student in year 4 who has specific learning difficulties. He reads sentences from cards, memorises them and then types them into a Clicker document. I have the speech support set to read back to him as he presses the space bar so that he is able to spot his errors immediately and correct himself easily. His confidence to write has dramatically improved and he really enjoys using Clicker. He says it has really helped him and explores the application independently. Just today he used the word bank grids to check the spelling of "thay" which had sounded phonetically correct.

Overall, my experience of using Clicker has been that learning is made easier using it.
