Clicker®

I use Clicker as a unique supportive tool for all subjects including literacy, maths and languages. I find that it is an excellent cross-curricular tool, that is appropriate for pupils of all ages and abilities and it allows me to use it with pupils aged from five to eighteen.

Within our school we use Clicker consistently in day-to-day class work, as well as within my two infamous “Clicker Clubs”. These Clicker Clubs are divided into two age groups; primary and secondary, and consist of children who have been selected by their teachers. Within these sessions we utilize the Clicker program by combining learning with fun, our activities include writing stories, practising maths and playing general knowledge games.

if they spell their name correctly"Within these sessions I often make use of the resources that I have downloaded from the LearningGrids website. At first I found them excellent tools by themselves, but now find they have been so inspirational that I now not only adapt the pre-existing downloadable grids but easily create my own. For example, I have created one activity using the “Make a Book” aspect of Clicker. In this activity the pupils write a story about themselves, which is further personalised by adding digital photos. This has proved successful as it not only motivates their writing, but because their photo will only appear if they spell their name correctly, the pupil’s spelling is reinforced. I have found this to be one of the many fun and encouraging learning tools that are accessible through Clicker.

"...Clicker has given her a voice"I also have found Clicker to be an essential programme in one-to-one teaching. For example, I support a child who has severe communication disabilities but through Clicker she, like a lot of children within our school, has gained confidence in her abilities and has been able to express herself much more easily. Since being introduced to the program, Clicker has given her a voice.

Because of all the above, Clicker has proved an excellent supportive tool. As we are so proud of the achievements that Clicker has allowed our children to attain, we now have a display board were pupils can exhibit their work to everyone who visits our school.
