I am a high-level teaching assistant in ICT and have recently started using Clicker in our ICT suite. As a large Junior School with three-form entry, we are making use of Clicker to support children who are struggling with their reading and writing. We have used it for literacy support in the suite, for multimedia and to support children with special needs.
In Year 5, we have been using Clicker to work with a child who has full-time one-to-one with a TA. He has been able to access the curriculum using Clicker in a way he has not been able to do before. He can hear the words and phrases spoken for him and print out some really high-quality work.
"We are also experimenting with
importing video clips into Clicker..."We have also been using Clicker as a whole-class teaching tool for creating word banks of key vocabulary for the children to use in their topic work. The children who require extra support use the computer so they can have the speech feedback in Clicker. Others use the word bank with their writing. We visit the website at LearningGrids.com and download grids on a regular basis, and then we adapt them for our use.
We are also experimenting with importing video clips into Clicker as we have just purchased some new digital blues! It brings a whole new aspect to learning across the age and ability range.
