Individual & Group Work

Find Out & Write About is ideal for individual work:

• Children can work independently
• They can read text with speech support
• Support is given to write their account, and with speech and colour coding
• There are direct links from the writing pages back to the reading pages, so children know where to find the information
• Glossaries help explain subject-specific vocabulary
• Children can click on unknown difficult words when reading on their own

There are many ways that you can use Find Out & Write About for group work:

1. Work around the computer with a group
2. Read the text together and discuss
3. Pick out the most important/interesting facts from the reading pages
4. Make sentences together on the writing pages - you can model and different group members can make sentences
5. Check the finished writing against the reading pages

Find Out & Write About is also ideal for independent group work and reporting back.

You could divide a class of children into separate groups for research work - 'Find Out & Report Back'. Groups could be divided according to ability - group 1 finds out at level 1, group 2 at level 2, and group 3 at level 3 - differentiation allows for groups to work at an appropriate reading and writing level.
