Individual Work
The teacher can choose
which words to omit depending on the learning task. Words can be
deleted randomly (every nth word) or using specific criteria, e.g.
adjectives, conjunctions or facts.
So students:
- Can show knowledge of a subject, e.g. history
or science
- Can check their own knowledge of a subject
- Can practise using particular language
- Can be encouraged to consider the effectiveness of a particular
word within a sentence
- Can practise a skill taught in a lesson, e.g. using past/present
verb tenses
- Are encouraged to use the context of a passage, e.g. they can
find the correct word by reading on
ClozePro and effective independent work
ClozePro features that encourage or help students to work independently
are:
- Speech - they can listen to the passage and the missing words
- Prompts - you can set up different prompts depending on the
ability of the student
- Different gap styles - these give clues to students and you
can change the style of the gaps for the same exercise according
to each student's ability, for differentiation (equal length gaps
for all words; gaps that show the word length; asterisks to show
the number of letters; blurred gaps to show the shape of the words,
or less blurred gaps for a word matching exercise)
- Changing the number of missing words displayed - you can limit
the number of words for students who need more help and display
more words for other students, but use the same exercise, for
differentiation
Worksheets
You can print out worksheets for follow-up activities, or to have
activities without the support features mentioned above, or for
homework.
