"The Find Out and Write About series from Crick Software is designed for children of all abilities who are learning to research information, then write about it.

This series is designed to accompany Crick's award winning Clicker 4 reading and writing CD-ROM. The Clicker 4 screen is divided into a talking word processor (Clicker Writer) and grids, which hold words, pictures and sounds. Type in the word processor or click on words in the grid to build sentences or a story. The computer can read each sentence aloud.

Find Out and Write About includes topics such as Animals of Hot Lands (read about tigers and crocodiles), Castles (how castles were attacked and defended), Minibeasts (how snails use their slime to move), and more.

Using this with Clicker 4 software, pupils move through each of the information pages and listen to the text. They then use each writing grid, which relates to the page of information they are working on. The grids help them to write about what they have learned.

This is ideal for topic work or as part of the non-fiction reading strand in a literacy programme. It is also great for differentiated activities, since pupils progress through levels which contain increasing amounts of detail.
