Crick launches Clicker 4 for Mac

Clicker, five-times winner of the BETT Special Needs Award, has been released for Mac. Clicker 4 is the latest version of the program, which has been described as an ‘industry standard’ in UK primary schools, and is now seeing success abroad, particularly in Australia and the United States.

Clicker 4 is the latest version of this supportive writing tool for all abilities. It now includes its own html-based talking word processor. Children can write with whole words, phrases and pictures by using the unique Clicker Grids.

Clicker is also an extremely powerful multimedia authoring tool. Children can create their own talking books using real speech. They can incorporate any of the 1000 graphics included in the Graphics Library, or they can use their own.

“We’re really excited by this launch”, said John Crick, Managing Director. “It will greatly enhance the appeal of Clicker worldwide. We have had Local Authorities requesting a Mac version for some time, and now it’s here, with full file compatibility so Mac users will have full access to the wealth of additional materials that are now available.”

There is a wealth of curriculum material included with Clicker 4, and it is extremely easy for teachers to create their own Clicker Grids. Teachers can also download hundreds of ready-made grids, free of charge from the Clicker Grids for Learning website at www.clickergrids.com. This is updated fortnightly with topical materials. PC and Mac files are fully compatible.

A range of add-on CDs is also available, all of which now come as dual format PC/Mac CDs. The latest, also to be launched at BETT 2001, includes Clicker Animations – a set of 100 animated GIFs plus over 500 ready-made grids that use the animations.

Crick Software will be exhibiting on Stand SN1. Clicker is priced at £90 for a single users, plus £12 for each additional user licence. Switch access is included, for users with a physical disability.
